Szostak Design is pleased to announce the promotion of the following staff members:
Janice Wang has been promoted to the position of Principal.
Max Hodge, AIA, Haifeng Liu and Alek Wimberly have been promoted to the level of Associate.
These talented and thoughtful members of Szostak Design have consistently demonstrated leadership in design excellence that has contributed to the firm’s continued success.
Janice Wang
During Janice’s 5 years at Szostak Design, she has been a leader in design and project management. In addition to her role as Senior Project Architect, Janice has spearheaded initiatives that include BIM technology and continuing education. With more than 17 years of experience, Janice has led both commercial and residential projects from design concept through construction. She is currently working on The Crunkleton in Raleigh, a mixed-use building in Chapel Hill and a private residence in Hope Valley. Janice plays an essential role in business development and building sound relationships within the firm as well as with clients.
Max Hodge
Since joining Szostak Design 5 years ago, Max has worked on several custom residential projects and is currently Project Architect on the Williams Auditorium addition and renovation at Winston-Salem State University. Max has significantly contributed to the architectural profession as an active leader of the Triangle chapter of the American Institute of Architects. He served as co-chair for the Young Architects Forum from 2020-2022. Max received his architecture license this past year and has been influential in mentoring the office’s emerging professionals in the licensure process.
Haifeng Liu
Haifeng joined Szostak Design as an architectural designer 7 years ago and has been a key contributor in a range of project types: PK-12 schools, higher education, and residential. His contributions include the Columbus County PK-12 Schools and the Fayetteville State University Lyons Science Building Renovation as well as the New Wellness Center in Fayetteville, NC. Haifeng is a SEED Accredited Professional and currently pursuing his architecture license.
Alek Wimberly
Since starting in 2021 at Szostak Design, Alek has been a skillful designer on a variety of large-scale projects including 1100 Columbia Street in Chapel Hill and the Fort Fisher Aquarium expansion. Alek brings his attention to detail and technical knowledge to all phases of design and construction documentation. He is also in the process of receiving his architecture license.
