Phil Nelson has more than 35 years of architectural design experience and is one of three principals at Szostak Design. He has served as Project Architect for multiple projects at Szostak Design including the Durham Performing Arts Center (DPAC), McGregor Hall Performing Arts Center in Henderson, the Capitol Broadcasting Company Headquarters Renovation and Addition, and the NC State Reedy Creek Equine Farm Therio. His approach to design documentation has made significant contributions to our firm’s ability to deliver well-executed, state-of-the-art, cost-efficient facilities.
Phil joined the firm in 2004 after 12 years as an Associate and Senior Designer with Cesar Pelli & Associates. During his years in Pelli’s studio, he worked on many high profile international projects, including National Airport in Washington, D.C., and the Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. More recently, Phil led the design teams on several Pelli projects including the Seay Psychology & Child Development and Family Research Building at the University of Texas at Austin and the Rosenfield Campus Center at Grinnell College in Iowa.
